Fr. Vadakel Endowment Intercollegiate Elocution competition

Fr. Vadakel Endowment Intercollegiate Elocution competition was held in the College for the 14th consecutive year on the 3rd Friday March 2017. Started in the year 2004, in honour of Fr. Paul Vadakel S. J. , a three time Rector and Manager of St. Xavier’s College, this competition brings together the best talents in the city and around for a purely intellectual pursuit. This time too the race was hot and hard. Finally Ms. Arya Nair, NSS College, Niramankara was adjudged the best speaker and Ms. Greta Eugine of the host college emerged the runner up. The first prize include Rs. 1500/-and Fr. Vadakel Endowment Ever Rolling Trophy. Earlier in the day College Principal Rev. (Dr.) Fr. V. Y. Dasappan S. J. inaugurated the competition and introduced Fr. Paul Vadakel in abstentia. This year the topic for the competition was “Demonetization and its impact on the social and economic life of the people of India”. Prof. John Kurian, former Principal; Prof. Burney Sebastian, HOD, Department of Economics; Mr. Firoz, Secretary of St. Xavier’s Alumni Association were the members of the Judging panel.  Prof. Bijoy John Philip, Convenor of the Cultural Committee was the chief organizer of the programme ably assisted by Dr. Manju, Dr. Sudheesh Sam and Smt. Mary Manjusha. Congratulations to Ms. Arya and Ms. Greta for the wonderful performance.
