Feast of St. Francis Xavier

The feast of St. Francis Xavier, the patron of St. Xavier’s Campus was celebrated on the 2nd and 3rd of December 2016 with much joy and gaiety. On the 2nd afternoon a special prayer service was conducted in front of the statue of the saint situated near the main building of the college. Participated by students and members of staff of both SXC and XIM, this was one such event which brought everyone in the campus together with same devotion and joy. Melodious singing mingled with supplications of prayers culminated with a thought provoking message of the day by Fr. K. J. Thomas S. J., Director Loyola Institute of Commerce, Poovar made the day worth. Heads of both the institutions offered floral tribute to the statue of St. Xavier. As a final act of our joy and festivity Sweets were distributed to everyone present.

On the 3rd, the actual day of the feast, we had a holy Mass at 11 am, presided over by Rev. Dr. Christudas, auxiliary Bishop of Trivandrum for a congregation of invited guests who included Teaching and Non-teaching faculty of SXC and XIM, all the retired members of SXC, Religious men and women from the neighbourhood and the students residing in the campus. The Holy Mass was followed by a delicious dinner.
